Internet-based courses often require use of the College Library resources. The HCCC library staff is able to provide extra support to Internet Academy students who do not have classes on the HCCC Campus. The links in the table above get you the access you need to complete research from home.
Databases
On the Library's web page, the link to Databases gives you access to a number of SUNYConnect and New York State-provided databases of journal articles, newspaper articles and reference works, as well as several specialized databases accessed through the HCCC pages only. To access the databases page, you must use your HCCC Username and Password when you are off-campus for Outside Access. The link for Internal Access is direct when you are on-campus. Use the SUNYconnect link (SLN User name and Password required) to gain access to many, but not all, of the same databases.

PLEASE NOTE:
- When accessing HCCC username/password protected sites, you must use Internet Explorer 4.01 or higher. Netscape browsers do not recognize Windows Authentication.
- If your browser prompts you for domain, then you will need to enter "HCCC", without the quotes, in the domain text box. If your browser does not prompt you for the domain, your username must be entered with "HCCC/", without the quotes, directly in front of your username. Example: A sample username would be "HCCC/smithw89", without the quotes.
Library Materials
There is a link to the HCCC Online Catalog which gives you access to all books and media at the Library. If the material you need isn't in our collection, you can e-mail the librarian with an Interlibrary Loan request. This process may take longer since we are requesting the material from other libraries. When the material is received at the library, you can either pick it up at the library or we will mail it to your home. You can either mail it back or return it in person.
Digital books online - NetLibrary on the Databases list is a collection of approximately 2500 academic and reference books which have been purchased by HCCC and SUNYConnect and 3400 public domain books. These have all been digitized and are available through this link in their full-text online versions.
Reference Questions
Requests for information can also be sent to the Library. A Librarian will respond to your queries. Depending on the type of information you are requesting, the response may be by e-mail or by phone, 1-888-GO-4-HCCC, ext.8394. In some cases, it may be more effective for you to come to the Library and work directly with a Librarian.
You can also chat with us live @ HCCCLibrarian on AOL's Instant Messenger.
