First Team All-Region
Dave Brock (Burlington, Ontario)-freshman attackman
Brock finished the regular season with 61 goals and 11 assists. During the Region III tournament, he racked up 14 additional points totaling 71 goals and 15 assists, equaling 86 points on the year as a freshman.
First Team All-Region
Sean Doyle (Rochester, NY)-senior midfielder and team captain
Doyle put up decent numbers all year with 43 points on 34 goals and 9 assists. "Sean is one of those middies who you look to in tight games to handle the ball and move it in between the lines," said Coach Dommer. Doyle is considering transferring to schools such as SUNY Albany, University of Denver and Bellarmine University. "Sean is going to be a great success both on the field and off in any facet of life he chooses to explore."
First Team All-Region
Tommy Maher (Port Washington, NY)-senior defenseman and team captain
Maher is Herkimer's best defensemen and usually covers the opposing team's top player. He has been scored on very few times this year. Coach Dommer said "Tommy is the link between myself on the sidelines and the defense on the field. He is an intense player who can do his own job and communicate to the boys to help them do theirs." Maher has earned a full scholarship to the University of Delaware for the next two years.
Second Team All-Region
Eddie Ege (Rockville Center, NY)--senior midfielder and team captain
Ege was voted First Team All-American last year, and this year is looking to repeat. He was also named Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year. Coach Dommer said "Eddie has unmatched speed, and his first step and shifty play make other players fall down just trying to stay with him." Ege's hard work and style of play have earned him a full scholarship to Adelphi University.
Second Team All Region
Kevin Kemp (Webster, NY)-senior midfielder
Kemp started the season as an attackman for Herkimer. After Coach Dommer's careful evaluation of the team's needs, Kemp was moved from attack to midfield early in the season. "Kevin has developed into a player who has the ability to create in the offensive end of the field," said Dommer. Kemp has scored three or more goals in multiple games. On the season, Kemp has put up 44 points on 24 goals and 20 assists. "These are huge numbers for a freshman. Kevin is really coming in and making a name for himself," said Dommer. Kemp's older brother David also played lacrosse for Herkimer, and was a First Team All-American. "This should motivate Kevin to one up his older brother. We are looking for Kevin to explode next year as a senior."
All Mountain Valley Conference Team
First Team All-Conference
Justin Hayes (Hudson, OH) - freshman attackman
Justin is a freshman who wanted a starting position this year. "After a mediocre start, Hayes has really stepped up. He has lit up the score boards wherever the Generals have played," said Dommer. Despite several nagging injuries, Hayes played the season strong, putting up great numbers. He scored 32 goals and 32 assists to tally up with 64 points on his freshman season. Justin is also an excellent student and was recently inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. "Justin is going to conquer anything he involves himself with."
Dave DiLuigi (Saugus, MA)-senior midfielder
DiLuigi is the starting face off midfielder who has controlled the ball for the Generals all year long. According to Coach Dommer, Diluigi's best performance came against Onondaga at home on Saturday April 14, when he put on a clinic winning 17 of 19 face offs. He is considering transferring to such schools as Syracuse, LeMoyne, Albany and Hofstra.
Mike Lashomb (Watertown, NY)--senior midfielder and team captain
Lashomb is one of the reasons the Generals are so successful at facing off. "MIke is the spark that starts our offense. Dave DiLuigi faces off and Mike comes off the wing and scoops the loose ball and starts the fast break. Mike has an absolute cannon of a shot," said Coach Dommer. Lashomb is considering transfer schools including the University of Denver, Sienna College, and The Bellarmine University.
John Cattani (Northport, NY)-freshman defenseman
A transfer student from Limestone College in Gaffney, SC, Cattani was able to step in and contribute right away. As a defenseman, Cattani scored six goals this season. "I never would have guessed he would be able to shoot the ball as well as he does being a defenseman. As a defenseman, you might get one, maybe two a year, but to have six goals, and all coming in high pressure situations and really big games, says a lot about this kid," said Dommer. "He always puts himself in a good spot to benefit the team and often sacrifices himself for the better of the team."
Mountain Valley Conference Goalie of the Year
Alex Haskins (Ballston Spa, NY)-senior goalie
Haskins took the starting job and hasn't looked back since. He has a .733 save percentage on the year, one of the best percentages in the country. "This season's success is largely due to the play between the pipes that Alex gives us," said Dommer. A Physical Education major and a strong student, Haskins has been offered scholarships from schools such as Adelphi, C.W. Post and is also looking to Limestone College.
