Herkimer Baseball
Assistant Coach: Tom Moreau
Tom enters his first year as an assistant for the Generals baseball team. The Ilion native has been a baseball coach in the Valley for more than 26 years. He spent 10 years with the Ilion Little League/Babe Ruth and the last 16 years with local power Ilion Post #920 American Legion team. During those 16 years at the helm, he guided his teams to 13 county championships, including eight consecutive years as the defending champs.
During his tenure he has coached some of Herkimer County’s best baseball players. He coached one player who went on to play professionally (Corey Haggerty ’96-‘00) and has coached six players who have gone on to play in College World Series events.
Coach Moreau has served as Herkimer County American Legion Baseball Chairman for seven years. He is a Vietnam veteran who served his country from 1968-1970, and is retired from Met Life Insurance Company where he was employed for 28 years. A resident of Ilion, Moreau is married with two children, four step children and five grandchildren.
