Program Summary
This program is designed to prepare students to work as Teaching Assistants and to provide them with a core of college level courses that may be applied to a transfer degree. Graduates are prepared to accept positions as Teaching Assistants. This program fulfills the college credit hour requirement for a New York State Level III Teaching Assistant Certificate.

Nature of the Work
Daily tasks of the teaching assistant include:
- Assisting the teacher with large group instruction
- Working with students in small groups
- Providing one-on-one guidance to students
- Scoring tests, quizzes and homework assignments
- Providing clerical assistance to the teacher
Job Outlook
Graduates find employment in elementary or secondary schools. Others may opt to continue their studies by pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts: Childhood Education, Liberal Arts: General Studies, Liberal Arts: Humanities or Liberal Arts: Social Science. |
