About HCCC
In July 2006, HCCC celebrated a milestone—40 years of excellence in education. It was in the 1960s that the State University of New York Master Plan identified Herkimer County as a potential community college site, a location and a community that showed great promise to support such an important endeavor. It was the commitment of a small upstate New York community that began a unique and very special story.
Overlooking a small village in Upstate New York, HCCC is a two-year unit of the State University of New York, the nation’s largest comprehensive system of public higher education. A two-year degree from Herkimer prepares students for jobs or to continue their education at a four-year school. It provides a central meeting place that brings the community together to learn, whether it is to experience the arts or to cheer on the Herkimer Generals athletics teams at Wehrum Stadium—the home of the champions!
Our students, alumni, and local community members have enjoyed and benefited from the excellent programs, services and facilities here at HCCC for 40 years. We hope you will too! |
